New XR range offers all-day comfort to more astigmatic patients
Wed, Mar 21, 2007
CooperVision announced today that it has extended the parameters of its Proclear® Toric contact lenses with the introduction of an XR range. Proclear Toric XR is a made-to-order lens that offers cylinder powers up to –5.75. With the addition of an XR range, Proclear Toric is now available in nearly 35,000 parameters. Proclear Toric XR lenses are a part of the PC Hydrogel™ family of lenses that offer excellent health and optimum comfort for daily-wear patients. Eye care practitioners can now offer a more comfortable lens option to a wider range of astigmatic patients.
The Proclear Toric product line is designed to enhance the wearing experience of soft lens wearers with astigmatism and increase the practitioner’s fitting flexibility with toric lenses. Proclear Toric lenses feature two base curves of 8.8 and 8.4, a sphere power range of +6.00D to –8.00D; cylinder powers of -0.75, -1.25, -1.75, and -2.25; and an axis of 10 degrees to 180 degrees in 10-degree steps. Proclear Toric XR extends the cylinder power range to -5.75 and axis steps in 5 degrees.
“CooperVision is dedicated to surrounding practitioners with near limitless toric options,” said Doug Brayer, marketing manager, CooperVision. “The toric market continues to show robust growth and we remain committed to our Toric leadership position with our Total Toric Solution which offers eye care practitioners the widest range of toric products and parameters in the industry.
Proclear Toric lenses are part of the PC Hydrogel family of contact lenses, and are made with CooperVision-patented PC Technology™, which keeps the lenses moist, healthy, and comfortable throughout the day. Proclear Toric lenses are made with omafilcon A material, the only lens material with an FDA-cleared indication relating to the improvement of comfort for those who experience dryness or mild discomfort during lens wear.
PC Hydrogel lenses significantly exceed the minimum level of oxygen for safe daily wear, and Proclear Toric is the only monthly toric lens that uses PC Technology to create a biocompatible material and a deposit-resistant surface that remains clean and healthy. In addition, the Proclear Toric lens material has a significantly lower modulus than silicone hydrogel lenses, which can reduce the risk of adverse effects on the cornea, such as SEALs and conjunctival flaps.
