Additional plus powers afford greater selection of premium lenses for patients and practitioners

CooperVision has once again expanded the parameters of Avaira® two-week replacement silicone hydrogel lenses. With the addition of new plus sphere powers of +0.25D to +8.00D on a new 8.4mm base curve, Avaira’s parameter range now extends from -12.00D to +8.00D—creating even more options for eye care practitioners who want to fit their patients in a high performance silicone hydrogel lens.
“Adding new sphere powers further strengthens the product offering so that even more patients can experience the excellent comfort, health, and convenience that Avaira delivers ” said James Gardner, sr. director of marketing, CooperVision.”
Avaira features a naturally wettable material that keeps the lens moist without the need for surface treatments, additives, or wetting agents—aiding in optimal comfort and minimizing deposits. Avaira’s low modulus of 0.5MPa offers a lens material that is 30 percent softer than comparable two-week silicone hydrogel lenses.1 Additionally, the combination of Avaira’s high oxygen transmissibility and low modulus promotes corneal health and aids in lens-wearing comfort.
Avaira features CooperVision’s unique Aquaform® Comfort Science™ —the same unique technology that is found in the company’s Biofinity® monthly replacement silicone hydrogel contact lenses. Aquaform technology incorporates longer siloxane chains, which allows Avaira to achieve high levels of oxygen transmissibility while incorporating less silicone into the lens material. The result is a softer, more flexible lens material that stays moist throughout the day.
CooperVision’s premium third-generation silicone hydrogel lens is manufactured from enfilcon A material. Avaira features a UV blocker, as well as a proven aberration-neutralizing system. This system uses unique aspheric optics to enhance vision by minimizing spherical aberrations inherent in both the lens and the human eye. The lens also has an optimized back surface and rounded edge design for easy fitting and better comfort.
Avaira is available in a base curve of 8.4mm and 8.5mm, a diameter of 14.2mm, a Dk of 100, and a Dk/t of 125. The water content is 46 percent. Currently approved for daily wear throughout the United States, Avaira is available in a six-lens pack or a three-lens trial carton.
